As families move to more spacious modern accommodation, or just move away, the old croft houses (Black Houses) are often left to fend for themselves against the Hebridean weather.
This former croft house, with some of its thatch just clinging to the rustic roof timbers, is in South Uist. The shot was taken using infrared film.
